A Typical Day in the Life of a Desginer

It's here!

I've been waiting for my favorite season and it has finally arrived with its sunny skies, beautiful weather and kids who want to 'do something fun'.  I've got a lot of work to do, but how can you deny them the summertime fun that they deserve after a long year of school? You can't. You just can't.

So, I am getting up at the crack of dawn every morning so I can work until they wake up (while secretly hoping they stayed up really late so they'll sleep in). I'm usually able to work a good 5 hours until we're off to the lake, the pool or wherever their little hearts desire.

I did manage to sort through some jewelry to decide what I want to keep and what I want to clearance and rearranged my studio a bit before we left.

Honestly, after seeing this picture I'm not crazy about the layout so I'll play around with it a little tonight with a well deserved glass of wine.

This is me with my 'shuttle the kids to the lake' look. My son did tell me that I get the "Mother of the Day Award." Gotta love that, right?

He caught a small blue gill on his first cast which he threw back.

I packed my laptop, some beading supplies to finish a necklace I've been working on and some very important notes so I could get some work done on a course that I'm taking. I was so excited that I could use this time to get caught up.

But...as soon as we got to the lake I discovered that I left the bag on the floor by the door. So, needless to say, I didn't get any work done. There wasn't any cell service, so I took in the beauty of my surroundings and did something that I rarely do which was...RELAX.

We went to Taco Bell afterwards and on the way home I was asked if I would take them to the clubhouse to play pool and to swim.

So, here we are...this time I remembered my bag of goodies and laptop. I love hearing the kids scream with delight, the sound of the water from the sprayers and have to chuckle when I hear the parents telling their kids to get out of the pool about 6 times before they threaten them. I so remember those days. Well, an hour turned in to almost 3 and the pool will be closing soon. The good news is I did manager to get a blog post in. Hurray!

I wonder what he has in store for tomorrow?

For me, it's an early morning cup of coffee and more of what I love to do--which is designing and making jewelry.

Is it 6am yet?
