The joys of Spring!

Spring is always a time of year for fresh starts and new beginnings and that's just what I have in mind for my jewelry business and creative life this month. I've been all over the place the last few years with my parents moving here, my father passing away and my mother in a care home, in a frail state, with her memory failing terribly. My boys have had some issues that needed full time attention and I haven't had time to focus on myself for one second, let alone feeling like I'm fulfilling my dreams and deepest desires for a creative life. I long for time, even just one day sometimes to do something special for myself.

Then, along comes Spring.
Deep breath.
Maybe even a sigh.

There's one more serious thing happening and if God is willing to give second chances it will be my turning point in making my fresh start a reality. I can't go into details, but it's weighing very heavy on me right now and the stress of it all is causing some health issues. It's hard not to have any control in a situation when it involves someone you love dearly.

I'm working really hard to get my Etsy shop up and running and doing a lot of research on how to find my perfect customer who enjoys wearing my jewelry. In the next few weeks, I hope to revive my little shop and once I get 100 listings I'm going to be doing a giveaway to show my appreciation for all the lovely comments that have kept me going these past few years. It's been really rough, but I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

And Spring is in the air.

The giveaway will be my launch and should help to get my Facebook page going again. I'd certainly appreciate any shares and would be happy to help you promote your business as well. I've felt the love from so many of you and would like to give it back in any way that I can. I can't tell you how grateful I am for you.

So, stay tuned and be kind.

My Color Crush

I've had color crushes before, but never one quite like I have with the color

It seems to exude a romantic and vintage vibe that is reminiscent of femininity and romance combined with timeless sophistication.

I can't seem to get enough of it in my home, my studio or in my personal style. I have to admit--I'm tickled 'pink' when I find something pink that I love.

Any shade of pink feels feminine, delicate and girlish but I especially love blush.  I carry a pale pink handbag, adore pink flowers, and love decorating my home with its subtle touches.
I love the dresser that I bought at a garage sale. I painted it pink and added lovely gold drawer pulls. Pink and gold are the perfect combination in my book.

I found these two old chairs with fabulous legs and painted the fabric with chalk paint--one gray and one pink. I'm thinking of painting the gray one pink, but my husband loves it gray. I guess when you live with 3 males in the home you have to give in once in a while.

I also found this amazing handmade bowl at a garage sale which is signed by the artist.
I wasn't sure that I wanted to pay the price, but I'm so happy that I didn't pass it up! It's one of my favorite pieces.

I especially love using pink in my studio because it feels so calming and feminine. It's my favorite place to be with my morning coffee and  beads.

I even have pink in the kitchen.

Even my salt is pink!

Pink, pink everywhere you look is pink.

I'm such a pink girl and have a feeling that I'm going to have a love affair with it for life!

What's your color crush?

More Crown Love!

I love soldering, so when my friend created these darling little crowns from something that she saw in my studio I knew what I'd be doing with them. They are fun, original and make great gifts as either a necklace, keychain or a charm to hang from your handbag.

they're made from repurposed rusty iron

and come in your choice of a flour de lis, crosses or points with circles

some are plain, some have rhinestones and some have a vintage earring

but there are no two alike

you may simply purchase one or purchase (10+) wholesale

For the diva in you, your favorite crown lover or your shoppe!

They'll be in my Etsy shoppe as soon as time allows, but in the mean time feel free to message me for more information or to place a special order.

I love to create!

What do you do when you need a creative fix and your son is bored? You mix up some flour and water, gather up some newspaper, some items to cover and do a paper mache project!

I've been wanting to repurpose this wicker dress form with French book pages for quite some time. I actually had it in my garage sale a few weeks ago and pulled it out after someone commented on how cool it was. I'm so happy that I did.

I covered the body with newspaper and let it dry overnight.

While it was drying, I brought out a variety of French books I've been collecting and started ripping out the pages. I went through my scrapbooking papers and chose some that I liked along with some other photos that I'd been saving for a unknown project.

The next morning, I added the torn pages, a bit of lace, some dried roses, sari silk ribbon, a vintage brooch and a vintage flower bead.

 Coffee and crafts…there’s nothing better.

This is the back.
I added a crown I made and later found a birds nest on the ground that fit inside perfectly.

I was thinking about what type of skirt to add around the bottom and a friend who was over pointed to the garland that I had hanging in my studio and said that it would be cute. I added it and Viola!

It was perfect!

I hope my son gets bored again soon.

Great tips for shipping if you own a small business

I had to laugh out loud when I read Kelly's blog post this morning...

Create a Shipping Station for Small Spaces By Kelly Campbell Corso

because quite frankly, that's how my morning was going. But, instead of laundry I was caring for a sick child and multitasking around the house. I have 4 orders to get out today and some are in the studio and a few are skattered around on the kitchen counters.

I don't actually have room to set up a station, but I love the idea of having a box with everything ready that I'll need.

You can read about Kelly's awesome tips on our collaborative Cre8tive blog page here:
