Repurposed Baby Bracelets

A few months ago
a lovely lady by the name of Patti, asked me if I would be interested in recreating something from her and her siblings baby bracelets.  She wanted to give them as Christmas gifts and wanted a necklace for each of her sisters, a bracelet for herself and to simply restring the one for her brother.

This is what was inside the little red box that her mom had kept them in.

In case you aren't familiar, these were hospital identification bracelets that they used from the 1920's until the early 1980's to help keep the newborn babies from mistakenly being given to the wrong mothers.  They were made from small glass beads that were strung on a cotton cord and closed with a slotted lead bead, pinched until flattened like a small button.

Patti left it totally up to me as to what to make with these treasured bracelets.

Decorating for the Holidays!

I decided to do the Arizona Bridal Show in Phoenix this January, so I have been making jewelry every second that I can.
I did manage to get some holiday decorating done in between stringing beads and running kids around though.
Since I needed to spend as much time as I could in my studio, I decided to go with a small tabletop tree this year.

My little  norfolk pine feels perfect with vintage piano music and a few of my favorite bulbs

I dressed up the mantel a bit

 planted my paper whites

and gave my vintage mannequin a special holiday look

I'm loving the simple look this year.

Now that I'm finished decorating...

it's back to beading!
